Where to Watch Football in Charleston: The Natural
Week 2 greeted us with yet another rainy Sunday here in Charleston! With that in mind, my husband and I decided to stay local in our Johns Island neighborhood for football this week. We started by watching our teams (mine - NY Giants; his - Seattle Seahawks) at home. After the Giants broke my heart in the last 30 seconds of the game—something that has happened way too many times before—we decided to head over to The Natural, the best sports bar option on the island!
The Natural is located right off of Maybank Highway in a plaza that features a new Mediterranean restaurant, a coffee shop, a gym & a nail salon. The venue is easy to access and there’s plenty of parking in the lot. It’s the largest space in the plaza and you won’t miss it upon pulling in.
There’s an outdoor patio space with several tables, chairs & outdoor seats that are connected to the indoor bar. Inside, you’ll find a large bar & dining area, an arcade, a private party space & (probably) the most TVs you’ve ever seen in one place at one time.
Highlights & Stand-Out Features
The Natural has 34 TVs arranged closely together. There’s a pretty good chance that if there’s a game you want to see, it’ll be playing on one of the TVs here. If you’re trying to catch multiple games at once, this setup makes it easy to do so.
The space is massive, making it great for groups, parties, and the like. They also have an elevated private party area available for rent if you prefer an option away from the rest of the patrons.
While sitting indoors gives you the best view of the TVs, there are also outdoor seats connected to the indoor bar, providing an alternative for enjoying a nice day outside.
There’s a game and arcade area, so if you bring kids with you, there’s something fun to keep them entertained.
I have yet to have a bad bite at The Natural! The menu mainly consists of sandwiches, pizzas, bar bites, and salads, but they also offer a few larger entree options if you’re looking for something heartier.
Considerations to Know Before You Go
This is a very family-friendly establishment, and there are often many kids present. While this may be a benefit for those with children, it’s something to consider if you’re not looking for that kind of vibe.
I didn’t notice what the sound situation was like for the TVs or games, but if you’re trying to hear audio for a specific game, it’s likely you won’t have that option here.
Tips & Recommendations
Try the fried chicken sandwich (we loved the classic “The Bird”) and the wings (the Korean BBQ flavor was fantastic!).
Get there early if you want a specific seat at the bar. Otherwise, there’s usually plenty of seating available in the main dining area, all of which offer great views of multiple TVs.
Follow The Natural on Instagram to stay in-the-know about their daily specials (+ to be highly entertained by their unusual content).
The Natural will remain to be a go-to for us on weekends when we don’t feel like traveling very far or just want a quick, easy option that we know will give great value. If you’re on Johns Island, this is a must-visit. And even if you’re not, it’s a great option if you want to try somewhere new or check out other spots in the area. Feel free to contact me if you want more Johns Island recommendations to check out while you’re here!
